The site for the West Midlands Regional Fire Control Centre has been announced it will be sited at Wolverhampton Business Park, Wolverhampton, adjacent to junction 2 of the M54 motorway.
I welcome this announcement as this will help in alleviating the uncertainty quite naturally being experienced by our Fire Control staff in our current five Fire Control rooms spread across the region.
I will in conjunction with my fellow Regional Management Board members work hard to ensure that we maintain the current level of service provided throughout the West Midlands Region by our Fire Control staff and assure them of our continued support during these changing times.
The new Regional Fire Control Centre should be operational by 2008/9, it will deal with all fire & rescue service based emergency calls for all of the areas covered by the West Midlands Regional Management Board.
